Stratford's parade and Garden of Remembrance service fall on Sunday 8 November. Eight streets shut 9.45am to noon, plus seven other district parades.

Remembrance Sunday falls on 8 November this year, and on the town council’s own pattern the Stratford service starts at the Garden of Remembrance on Old Town with arrival from 10.30am. Eight town centre streets close from 9.45am to noon.

Those times are last year’s. Stratford-upon-Avon Town Council has not yet published its 2026 Remembrance notice, and on its own timing it is about a fortnight away.

What is confirmed for 2026, and what is not

Remembrance Sunday is the second Sunday in November. In 2026 that is Sunday 8 November. Armistice Day, the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month, falls on the Wednesday after, 11 November 2026.

Nothing else about the Stratford commemorations is in public yet. The town council’s events list currently runs from the Mayor’s soup lunch on 7 September to the Christmas Market weekends in late November and carries no Remembrance entry. The district council’s list of road closures, last updated on 17 March 2026, runs to December and has no Remembrance closure on it either, only the weekly markets.

That silence proves nothing. Last year the town council published its Remembrance road closure notice on 23 September 2025, seven weeks ahead of the day, and the district council’s district-wide festive closure list went out on 10 October. Expect the 2026 detail in the second half of September.

Last year’s arrangements, which are the ones to plan around

The town council’s own Remembrance Commemorations event page is still up for 9 November 2025 and gives the shape of the morning:

After the service, the page says, “the March Past and salute takes place in Church Street (opposite the District Council building)”.

The road closures

The town council’s 2025 notice closed these streets from 9.45am to 12 noon:

  • Church Street
  • Chapel Street
  • Chapel Lane
  • Southern Lane
  • Old Town
  • College Street
  • Bull Street, from the junction with Chestnut Walk to the junction with Narrow Lane
  • Waterside, from the junction with Sheep Street to where it becomes Southern Lane

The order the notice links to is a scanned PDF, so it carries no extra machine readable detail. The street list in the notice body is the useful part, and it matched the district council’s own published order for the same morning.

Waterside is shut twice over that morning

This is the part worth knowing if you are driving in. The Waterside Upmarket is already on the district council’s 2026 closure list for Sunday 8 November, 9.00am to 6.00pm, closing Waterside from the junction with Bridge Street to the junction with Sheep Street.

The Remembrance closure, on last year’s extent, picks up at exactly that point and runs the other way, from Sheep Street down to Southern Lane. Between them they take the whole of Waterside out for the morning.

Park and Ride is the other trap. Warwickshire County Council’s Park and Ride page says the dedicated bus does not run on Sundays between November and Easter except for advertised special events, and Remembrance Sunday has not been named as one. Stratford is not the only one, and several start earlier. These are the 2025 times and extents from the district council’s closure list published on 10 October 2025, which is the fullest record of the district’s Remembrance morning anywhere in public. Treat them as the likely 2026 shape, not as confirmed dates:

The Bidford entries are the ones to read twice. The bridge is closed for eight minutes on the way out and eight on the way back, which is the parade crossing it, not a road works.

What to watch for

Two things are outstanding. The town council’s 2026 closure notice, due on last year’s timing in the second half of September, and the district council’s district-wide closure list for the autumn, which last year appeared on 10 October. This page will be updated when each lands, and the parade times above will be replaced with the confirmed ones.
