Tony Award winner Jonathan Groff makes his RSC debut this weekend. His As You Like It opens at the Royal Shakespeare Theatre on Saturday. Tonight, Radio 4’s Any Questions comes live from Alcester, and a world pole climbing championship ends at Ragley on Saturday.

Here is what is on from Friday 25 to Sunday 27 September, from each organiser’s own listing. Always check with the venue before you travel.

Friday 25 September

Any Questions, live from Alcester. BBC Radio 4’s political debate programme comes from the Greig Hall, Alcester, B49 6AD, tonight. Alex Forsyth presents. The panel is Sir Chris Bryant MP, Sarah Elliott, John Glen MP and Paul Nowak, according to the BBC’s programme page.

  • Entry: by ticket only; the tickets were free

Alcester is about seven miles west of Stratford.

Saturday 26 September

As You Like It opens at the RST. Jonathan Groff plays Rosalind in Daniel Evans’s all-male production. The cast also includes Fisayo Akinade as Celia, Gary Wilmot as both dukes and Richard McCabe as Jaques. The run is from 26 September to 7 November, according to the RSC’s show page.

  • Running time: about 2 hours 25 minutes, plus a 20-minute interval
  • Tickets: performance times and seats are on the RSC’s booking page. The RSC also runs a £10 tickets scheme.

APF 2026, final day at Ragley. The APF exhibition bills itself as the UK’s largest forestry and arboricultural exhibition. It is a three-day show on the Ragley Estate, near Alcester. It runs from 24 to 26 September, so Saturday is the last day.

It hosts the Husqvarna World 25m pole climbing championships and the European Chainsaw Carving Championships, where 25 carvers work on a 2m by 1m piece of timber over three days, according to the show’s competitions page.

Sunday 27 September

Waterside Upmarket. The riverside market runs every Sunday from March to December, from 10am to 5pm, with more than 90 stalls, according to its organiser, LSD Promotions.

Vulcan engine run at Wellesbourne: sold out. The XM655 Maintenance and Preservation Society is running the Vulcan bomber’s engines at Wellesbourne Mountford Airfield from 10am to 4pm. Admission is by advance ticket only, and the event’s ticket page shows it as sold out. Do not travel without a ticket.
